Volume #1 - Rose and Poppy There's a bridge that divides the town, separating violence from non-violence,
immorality from morality, sexually abusive lifestyles from ordinary lifestyles. There's no order beyond that
bridge. That's where Ryoko enters in search of her childhood friends, Masato and Honoka. What she finds there is
Masato, now the leader of a gang that profits from violence and sex. Although Masato is a capable leader, he's
not without trouble. Shinji, one of his subordinates, is deceiving him, and we sense mutiny brewing. We also meet
Lisa, Shinji's girlfriend, whose cruelty winds up killing a girl from an opposing gang. Trying to persuade Honoka
and Masato to return to the other side of the bridge, Ryoko sees Honoka spitting blood due to a serious illness.
Although a doctor tells Honoka to leave this corrupt town and seek a cure on the other side of the bridge, Honoka
refuses to go. Meanwhile, Emi, a hooker and Masato's lover, is bothered by Ryoko hanging around. Emi realizes
that Ryoko can influence Masato and sees her as competition. It's clear that Ryoko is in love with Masato and
that's why she's here. As the episode concludes, Emi seduces Ryoko, cunningly getting her to engage in group sex
and tarnish her pure reputation. As Emi, Ryoko and Masato go at it, Honoka collapses unconscious, spitting blood,
while simultaneously Ryoko reaches her sexual climax.
Volume #2 - Ashes in the Urn The episode opens with the doctor telling Masato and his sister,
Honoka, to go back home, but they have no home to go back to. In a series of flashbacks, we glimpse the dark past
that haunts all three of them -- Masato, Hosoka and Ryoko. Meanwhile, in an attempt to enslave Ryoko and make her
become one of them, Lisa and other girls try to get Ryoko to sign a contract to be a hooker, but Honoka
intervenes, stopping them. When Emi, Masato's lover, demands that Masato take action to regain control over their
territory, he says he isn't interested. That night, the gang goes out to work without Masato's protection, only
to have the enemy gang ambush them. Enemy gang wants revenge for the killing of their gang member -- the girl
Lisa abused in episode 1 . In the process, Lisa and a couple of others are molested violently, then murdered.
That same night, Masato comes by an old man, who always mumbles and repeats the same phrases. Unlike the other
days, however, he is silent. As if he wants to be killed, he invites Masato to attack him, which Masato accepts,
cruelly beating the old man to death. When Emi, Shinji and the few surviving gang members demand that Masato do
something about murder of Lisa and the others, Masato declares that he's leaving town with Honoka, deserting them
in their time of need. Just then, Honoka spits blood. While Masato's gone to the doctor with Honoka, Shinji runs
to a shopkeeper and buys a gun. He wants revenge on Masato for not protecting them. Unable to leave town without
Ryoko, Honoka leads Masato back to the apartment where Ryoko is waiting with the other gang members. At the
apartment, they find Ryoko with her mind muddled by the drugs. When Masato demands to know what's been done to
her, he is shot by Shinji. Masato and Honoka are trapped. Shinji declares that he will not kill Masato until
Masato witnesses the gruesome molestation and murder of Honoka -- just the same as Lisa. Right in front of
Masato, Honoka is abused and dies. In a rage, Masato uses the last of his strength to kill everyone -- before he
collapses to his own death. The only one that survives is Ryoko. With her mind still in the clouds, she walks
across the town, dragging the dead body of Honoka behind her. The story ends as she finally reaches the bridge,
where she drops Honoka -- before crossing over to the other side. |
